There is a heaviness in the hearts of Americans on the anniversary of September 11th, a feeling of restlessness and loss somehow mixed with gratitude and an overwhelming sense of brotherly love. September 11, 2001 started out like any normal day until suddenly it didn’t.

An attack on our nation that was to tear us apart united Americans in a way no one expected. If you look at your social media feeds today, you’ll undeniably come across the quote that says something like, “I would never wish for another 9/11, but I would ask for another 9/12.”

The sentiment that exists underscores the importance of the love that was manifested in the seconds, minutes, hours and days following the 2001 attacks. People sacrificed their lives for neighbors they did not had ever met in order to give someone a future, even if it meant risking their own. There was a unique brand of patriotism that bled in the weeks and months that followed.

This patriotism still exists today, and as we all remember 9/11, we share the love and gratitude for those who lost that day and how it affected us all.

Tim Fullerton shared a beautiful image with all of us as the lights at the 9/11 Memorial were turned on.

Domingo Germán took to the bases at Yankee Stadium with an American flag in today’s game.

Kerry Washington also shared the memory of 9/11 with a nod to the spirit of hope we have together.

President Joe Biden was pictured today at a 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon.

Cole Hauser shared a famous 9/11 image with the words, we’ll never forget.

Dr Buzz Aldrin also shared a beautiful image with a message saying it’s time to remember the “victims, survivors and heroes of this day”.

Every 9/11 since those life-altering attacks, we slow down and remember, vowing to never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Kudos to the heroes, the sacrifices they made, and the brotherly love we can show one another, helping to make life a little easier for everyone.
