Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sonam Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao did not charge any fees for their films

Bollywood celebrities are known to charge huge sums for a single movie. But, there are also some actors for whom the passion for cinema comes before a big fee. They decide not to charge filmmakers any fees for various reasons. Some take nothing because of the film’s tight budget, while others work only because they fall in love with the script and want to be part of the film.

Below is the list of actors who have worked almost for free in some of their films:

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor played a small role in Farhan Akhtar’s film “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”. The actress only charged a token amount of Rs.11 for the film, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra revealed in his autobiography ‘The Stranger in the Mirror’. She made the film because she loved the story of the partition of the country and the life of Milkha Singh. Prior to this film, Sonam also worked with Rakeysh in the film Delhi-6.

2. Rajkummar Rao didn’t charge anything for “Trapped”

One of Bollywood’s most talented actors, Rajkummar Rao directed director Vikramaditya Motwane’s film “Trapped” for free. The actor revealed this on Arbaaz Khan’s ‘Pinch’ chat show. Rajkummar said, “Some movies are not for the box office. They are meant for life. I’ll leave this world after 50 years or whatever…when people talk about 10 Rajkummar Rao movies, and they talk about Trapped.

3. Amitabh Bachchan made the movie ‘Black’ for free

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan did Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Black’ for no cost. Big B revealed that he didn’t charge the filmmaker a single penny. In February 2017, when the film completed 12 years, Mr. Bachchan wrote a special blog dedicated to the film and revealed some unknown facts. He wrote: “I just wanted to work with Sanjay, after seeing all the other work he had done…And when the opportunity came it was pretty overwhelming. I didn’t take a salary for the film… The mere fact of being part of such a company was enough pay!

4. Shahid Kapoor didn’t charge anything for the hit movie “Haidar”

Shahid Kapoor received massive appreciation for his acting in the movie “Haider”. But did you know that the actor didn’t charge anything for the film? Yes, Shahid chose not to take a single penny, director Vishal Bhardwaj revealed to a tabloid. He said the film’s budget was so tight due to the huge set, ensemble cast, filming in Kashmir and lavish action sequences.

5. Nawazuddin Siddiqui only charged Rs1 for his movie “Manto”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is known for his brilliant acting performances. The actor has worked hard to achieve everything he has today. But did you know that he only charges Rs.1 for his movie Manto? Yes, Nawaz worked almost for free for ‘Manto’. The film’s producer Nandita Das revealed in a statement to IANS that the actor did not charge anything for the film.
