Auburn’s TJ Finley arrested after allegedly evading police during traffic stop

auburn quarterback TJ Finley was arrested on Thursday for allegedly evading police in Alabama.

Finley, who recently became the first college athlete to sign a NO deal with Amazon, was incarcerated in the Lee County Detention Center and eventually released.

According to AL.com, Finley was booked after turning into a police officer. He reportedly discovered there was an active warrant for his arrest after he was cited for riding a moped without a helmet on July 26 on campus.

Auburn police say Finley “fleed police and committed several other traffic violations in the process.”

“The charges against my client, TJ Finley, are the result of traffic violation and misunderstanding“Finley’s attorney, Davis Whittelsey, said in a statement.

“The charges are being processed in municipal court in the city of Auburn, as are all traffic tickets. As soon as TJ learned of the charges, he surrendered and was released on a bond that he signed for himself. His first day of football camp with Auburn University was a success.”

Finley is one of four quarterbacks vying for the Tigers’ starting job. But, with experience under his belt, he is the favourite. Finley started the final three games last season for the Tigers when he replaced Bo Nixwho has since been transferred to Oregon.

Finley was 70 of 128 passes for 827 yards with six touchdowns and one interception last year.

Finley reported to the team after being released on bail and will participate in the team’s first practice Friday session.
