Celebrity organizations distribute water to Jackson residents

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – For more than 40 days, residents of Jackson have been under a boil water advisory and many have had to rely on bottled water due to no water pressure in Their houses.

Now, even though the water pressure is increasing in Jackson, the water crates thanks to this gift are still vital for the residents.

“People are still in need. People are quite desperate to get water. Because we don’t know how long we’re going to deal with it,” said Carol Blackmon, Black Votes Matter volunteer and Jackson resident.

And that’s why Wine to Water, an organization that has partnered with Jason Mamoa’s foundation and the Joy by Journey tour, which has partnered with Megan the Stallion, to give back to those in need.

“We were able to partner with Mananalu to be able to bring water here to Jackson, not only in water but in sanitation, hygiene supplies, which are also needed,” the operations manager said. by Wine to Water, Cory Acri.

“What we wanted to do was respond to what our partners told us about being able to bring water. We have young people serving, we want to create the community energy so we can support the people of Jackson,” said Latosha Brown, who is a member of the Joy to Journey tour.

Over the past week, Wine to Water has distributed 17,000 cans of Mananalu water to Jacksonians – and today their teams joined the Joy by Journey and Black Votes Matter tour to ensure that 10 palettes of water were distributed.

“We wanted to bring water, but not just water. We want to spread joy today and literally be able to let people know and see our faces and say we care,” Brown said.

Jackson residents say now that the crisis is gaining some national visibility, they feel the support…and appreciate the acts of service.

“I feel people feel our pain that people are there to help us and we are happy that the Lord has touched their hearts to come in and help us through this very difficult time,” Blackmon said.
