“I had three wives who threatened to leave me in and out of all of our marriages. The threat of leaving is always there,” Kody, 53, says in We Weeklythe exclusive clip from the Sunday September 18 episode of sister wives.
Christine, 50, shocked fans of the TLC series when she announced via Instagram in November 2021 that she and the Wyoming native had separated. As Season 17 continues, she notes how difficult polygamy has proven to be.
“Even when things were tough, I just thought, ‘Well, it can be tough. Plural marriage can be tough. I just thought it was okay to be sad, and I think I was much sadder than I thought,” the reality star shares in Sunday’s episode. “But I tried. Kody’s second wife, Janelle Brownwho he spiritually married in 1993 and with whom he shares six children, says during a confessional that Kody and Christine’s breakup was “an inevitability”.
His first wife, Meri Brownwhom he married in 1990, went on to compare plural marriage to “any other marriage.”
“If the parties involved aren’t interested or willing to do it, there really isn’t much else to do,” the 51-year-old, who shares Leon, 27, told the camera. , with Kody.

Although Christine says she feels “really grateful” that Kody wasn’t “angry” during their conversation, he calls her decision to leave their relationship a “major injustice”.
“I need to get to a place where I can rejoice in your happiness and freedom,” Kody continues to Christine during their conversation.
