Longtime fans of “Jeopardy!” threaten to boycott the show since Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings share hosting duties.
Wednesday, the beloved game show announced that the two acting hosts will keep their jobswith Jennings hosting from September to January and Bialik taking over from January to the end of the season.
The ‘Call Me Kat’ actress will also host “The danger of celebrities!” and special tournaments, while Jennings will host the Second Chance Tournament and the Tournament of Champions.
This was bad news for some viewers, as both the historic “Jeopardy!” champ and the “Big Bang Theory” alum took on their fair share of mistakes — and, therefore, criticism.
The announcement on Twitter received hundreds of responses, with many expressing their displeasure at the announcement that Bialik would stay on.
“I won’t watch @Jeopardy until @KenJennings becomes the main and only host. This switch thing sucks! #boycottjeopardy because they’re run by idiots. What a waste,” one commenter said.
“Great! I’ll be watching until December when Ken hosts. I won’t be watching any Jeopardy host Mayim,” one person weighed.
“And I don’t watch all the time”, another person declared.
“No one is thrilled to see Mayim co-host at all, if you listen to people most of us preferred Ken as our full-time host over Mayim Bialik. Watch when viewership drops when Mayim hosts and then goes up with Ken, you’ll regret co-hosting shit,” another user wrote.
“This woman keeps me away from the show and most others I know agree she’s a mess as a host,” one viewer said. joked.
However, others said Jennings was the problem.
“Mayim is much better as a host”, a user wrote. “Ken is not a public speaker let alone a television host. Trivia nerds and Twitter nerds are the only Jeopardy viewers who prefer Ken, who is a small segment of Jeopardy’s audience.
“If Ken was as good as social media says he would have been Sony’s pick alone,” another declared. “Mayim needs practice. I agree. But she has a far superior Jeopardy voice for reading clues like Alex did. That’s why they chose Mayim.
“It’s a winning host team that Alex [Trebek] would be so proud. Jeopardy is more popular than ever and will have the best future, including prime time,” another said of the deceased longtime host.
In other “Jeopardy!” scandal news, social media was stunned last week when the three candidates missed a question about 11-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift and her hit song “You Need to Calm Down.”
The show’s 39th season begins filming next week.
