The official trailer for Glass onion: a mystery at loggerheads is here and rightly gives very little follow up. As you can see in the teaser, Daniel Craig’s southern fried Benoit Blanc is back and he’s in Greece to solve an all-new mystery with an all-new cast of characters. The dynamite cast is also highlighted in the trailer, showing us glimpses of Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline along with Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista.

It’s safe to say that the official teaser for Glass onion: a mystery at loggerheads is the perfect trailer. Since this is a mystery movie, it’s probably best they don’t tell us too much. The first one Knives out was a big hit for Rian Johnson, who had just come out of his addition to the Star Wars canon with Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi. Knives out experienced no such critical split, grossing over $311 million at the worldwide box office and holding a 97% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 92% of the audience. It’s no wonder Netflix picked up the franchise for not one, but two sequels.

Glass onion: a mystery at loggerheads seems to follow the same successful formula as the original. Rian Johnson writes and directs, Daniel Craig’s detective is steeped in a wild mystery, and a cast of some of the best in the business play weird and eccentric characters. The original cast was no less impressive, with Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, LaKeith Stanfield, Christopher Plummer, Katherine Langford, Riki Lindhome and Jaeden Martell all along the way. . Knives out even landed Johnson a Best Original Screenplay nomination at the Oscars. Without a doubt, Netflix hopes that Glass Onion can recreate some of that success.

Obviously, Netflix has faith. As mentioned, there has already been a third entry in the franchise announced which will follow Glass onion: a mystery at loggerheads. The third Knives out The film is slated for release in 2024 and will also feature Daniel Craig returning as Benoit Blanc. Of course, there will likely be a whole new cast of characters for the next entry, but we probably won’t find out those details for a little while. Unless Glass onion: a mystery at loggerheads and the third film completely misses expectations, it could be a complete franchise for Craig and Johnson. After all, the formula is easy enough to repeat, as long as Johnson can keep coming up with compelling mysteries and characters.

Luckily, we won’t have to wait long to see Glass onion: a mystery at loggerheads. The film is set to hit Netflix just in time for the December 23 holiday. Meanwhile, the film is set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this Saturday. Presumably, we’ll hear buzz from attendees to see if the sequel can live up to the expectations set by the original.
