For years, decades even, the Clippers have been the laughingstock of the NBA and the harmless little brother in Los Angeles of the Lakers. However, as the Lakers continued to mismanage assets, the Clippers established themselves as one of the most stable franchises in the league.
In this week’s episode of “Can U Dig It”, a podcast from Money screen and roll networkI am accompanied by Justin Russo from Clip Nation to talk about the two offseasons of the Los Angeles-based franchises and how drastically different they were. While the Lakers are a team in search of an identity, the Clippers have an established one that has led them to a fairly quiet offseason.
It’s a dramatic shift between the two franchises, with the shoes previously on the other foot, but behind a terrific head coach like Ty Lue and a united front office behind him, the Clippers have become what the Lakers were during their title years.
After discussing the state of the two franchises, Justin and I discuss the Lakers’ offseason title to Kyrie Irving, and whether the Lakers will trade for star guard. We also discuss the idea of trading for Buddy Hield and Myles Turner instead, and whether that’s something the Lakers should consider.
