Splatoon 3 sales top 3.45 million in first three days in Japan

Total sales for Splaton 3 surpassed 3.45 million units in the first three days of release in Japan, Nintendo said. This includes both physical and digital sales, and is the highest recorded sales number for any Switch game in the first three days of release.

Splaton 3 launched for Switch on September 9 worldwide.

Here’s a preview of the game, via Nintendo:

In the Splatoon series of action shooters, players take on the role of Inklings, squid characters who can also assume humanoid form. Nintendo launched the Splatoon game for the Wii U console in May 2015, and the Splaton 2 game for Nintendo Switch in July 2017.

Splaton 3 is the last game of Splatoon series, in which players compete in two teams of four players, claiming territory by covering it with ink in Turf War battles. Building on the foundations of the series, Splaton 3 adds new weapons, special weapons and action to the game. In Splatsville, a chaotic city populated by diverse elements, players can enjoy a wide variety of battles: not only Territory War battles, but also the Story mode in which players can fight and discover for themselves a mysterious place called Alterna; and Salmon Run, where up to four players can work together and fend off powerful bosses. Additionally, Nintendo will be adding more weapons and stages through updates for two years after launch, and hosting events such as Splatfests, where players split into three teams to claim territory and overall victory. . Players can connect with other players around the world online*, as well as play together locally, each with their own Nintendo Switch console.
