Stocks in the Asia-Pacific region rose on Monday on improving risk sentiment.

The Nikkei 225 in Japan gained 1.09% in early trading, while the Topix index was up 0.7%.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 also gained 0.78%. MSCI’s broadest Asia-Pacific ex-Japan equity index rose 0.38%.

Markets in mainland China, Hong Kong and South Korea are closed for holidays. The United States is expected to release its consumer price index for August later this week.
