The Hurry-Up: Jayden Bonsu Trending Toward Ohio State, Jadon Perlotte to Visit for Notre Dame Game, Derion Gullette and Oluwatosin Babalade to Commit Friday

Ohio State has had notable misfires on the defensive end of the ball lately in recruiting, but the Buckeyes appear to have flipped recruiting a defensive player in their favor.
Four Star Safety in New Jersey Jayden Bonsu has always been a top priority for Ohio State to land in the 2023 cycle. This became even more true when Caleb Downs committed to Alabama in July. On Thursday, four 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions were made for Bonsu to land at Ohio State.
Bonsu recently announced an August 14 engagement date, nearly a month later than their original July 20 engagement date. If Bonsu had stuck to his original engagement date, he was almost certainly heading to Miami. But OSU appears to have regained momentum with the Garden State prospect.

Should Bonsu commit to the Buckeyes on August 14, he would be their third safety commitment of the Class of 2023.
“He’s tall and physical, but he can still run really well,” Bonsu coach Rich Hansen said. Eleven Warriors in May. “Everyone is looking for these guys who kind of have the best of both worlds in terms of length and physique, but still have these unique types of skills.”
Perlotte confirms the visit of Notre-Dame
One of the Ohio State linebackers’ first targets of 2025 has planned a return visit to Columbus. Georgia linebacker Jadon Perlotte confirmed with Eleven Warriors he plans to visit OSU for the season opener against Notre Dame on Sept. 3.
Perlotte, who already has 26 Division I offers, picked up his OSU offer after camping out with the Buckeyes on June 14. He was on OSU’s radar months before, when defensive coordinator Jim Knowles studied his film and then asked Perlotte to attend camp in June. .

After seeing him in person, Knowles and Day pulled the trigger, offering the 6-foot-4, 205-pound linebacker.
“Coach Day told me that I was one of their top priorities in the Class of 2025,” Perlotte said after receiving his offer in June. “(Ohio State is) definitely in the top three right now. It’s a family culture. I love it.”
Gullette engages on Friday
Another domino is set to fall with an Ohio State defensive target in the 2023 cycle. Four-star Texan linebacker Derion Gullette announced Friday that he is ready to choose a school and will commit at 4 p.m. Friday (Gullette lives in Teague, Texas, which is in the central time zone).
Commit Friday at 3 p.m.!

Gullette will choose between the bottom three of Texas, Texas A&M and Ohio State. Texas is the big favorite going into the decision.
Ohio State would certainly take the 6-foot-2, 220-pound target if it changed its mind, however, as the Buckeyes are yet to land a single linebacker commitment in 2023 and the main target Tackett Curtis committed to USC last month.
Gullette made an official visit to Columbus the weekend of June 10-12 and told Eleven Warriors he enjoyed his visit.
“The visit was great,” Gullette said in June. “I really need to learn more about the Buckeyes and understand their culture. They made a big impression on me, I love how Coach Day is development oriented. It’s big for me.
Babalade postpones his decision until Friday
The last remaining goal of the 2023 offensive line that made an official visit to Ohio State this summer is expected to commit. Maryland four-star offensive tackle Oluwatosine Babalade will make its college decision at 2 p.m. Friday.
Friday!!!!

Babalade made an official visit to Columbus June 17-19, but OSU is not expected to be the pick until Decision Day. Catholic product DeMatha would have to choose between South Carolina and Maryland.
Ohio State currently has four committed offensive linemen in the 2023 cycle and could stay at that number unless it can find a first offensive tackle to add to its class this fall.
