The pregnancy obsession of celebrities

Bodies that change

Maybe it’s the assumption that celebrities aren’t human that makes it so fascinating to watch them grow up with pregnancy. It gives us the feeling that they are slightly normal when they undergo pregnancy weight gain. We watch their faces swell with their bodies, because not even celebrities can escape the normal pregnancy weight gain and water retention. Their ankles will swell like ours and they won’t be able to dye their hair like us. Pregnancy itself is a naturally beautiful thing, but let’s look to see how pregnancy will physically affect every celebrity.

Fashion

Oh the fashion. We are obsessed with what celebrities wear, who they wear and how they wear it. When celebrities are pregnant, it’s a whole new fashion arena. We can’t wear what we wear without a baby bump, so we need to look at maternity styles. We look at celebrities to see what to wear while pregnant! Aside from maternity fashion, what do they wear on their feet when they are swollen and heavy? Do they have the courage to wear heels?

After pregnancy Weight loss

Another reason we’re obsessed with watching celebrities pregnancy is to see what they do after having the baby. Let’s be honest: we want to know how long it will take to lose baby weight. If they lose it too quickly, we rule out (and take plastic surgery), and if it takes a while we see that they are human and we feel we can relate. Furthermore, they cannot escape the normal “wear and tear” of the body due to pregnancy. They too will have stretch marks and loose skin (without surgery, of course).

Pregnancy, as a whole, makes celebrities more recognizable and, in turn, makes them feel less “bigger than life”. It’s not a bad thing – celebrities look more human. It is something that, for example, I like to know.
