WI vs Ind 2022 2nd T20I to start two hours late after delay in arrival of teams' luggage from Trinidad

The start of the second T20I between the West Indies and India, which will be played later today in Basseterre, will be delayed by two hours, following “significant delays in the luggage of the crucial team arriving in Saint Kitts from Trinidad”, where the first T20I was played.

The match, which was due to start at 10:30 a.m. local time [8pm IST]will now start at 12:30 p.m. local time [10pm IST].

India lead 1-0 in the five-match series after a convincing victory in the first gameplayed in Tarouba.

Asked to bat in this game, India scored 190 for 6, with captain Rohit Sharma hitting 64 for 44 topping the order and Dinesh Karthik finishing the innings with 19 41 unrecovered. West Indies were then held at 122 for 8, with the six Indian bowlers used conceding 6.50 runs per plus or minus. Arshdeep Singh, R Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi all picked up two wickets each.

Looking back on the performance, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, India’s experienced pace attack leader, said: “If you look at our score, it was quite good. We didn’t expect so many runs after watching the pitch But the NSP way [Karthik] hitting to get us to that total gave us a lot of confidence that we had the points we could defend.

“Then the way we played, the way we assessed the conditions, especially against the hitters who hit a lot of the boundary, it was very encouraging.”

After the second and third games, which will both be played in Basseterre, the action will move to the United States, where the final two games will be played in Lauderhill, Florida.
