WWE opened its Slam summer pay-per-view tonight (Saturday, July 30, 2022) at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee featuring the highly anticipated rematch from last year’s show, which ended in 26 seconds in 2021. Oh yeah, Bianca Belair entered the big show again as the champion, this time holding the Raw Women’s Title, and defending it against Becky Lynch.
Fortunately, there was no repeat of last year.
Instead of an early clash ending, we had a back-and-forth battle between two wrestlers who know each other well and were ready for much of the offense the other brought to the match. It became apparent early on that Lynch may have injured her shoulder, but she went ahead and worked the game as usual.
Either it sold very well or it really held up.
In the end, Belair did enough, kicking out a Manhandle Slam and getting big with a Spanish Fly and following that up with a KOD to score the pinfall and retain his title.
Afterwards, a defeated Becky offered her hand to Bianca. When she took it, Lynch leaned over her and Belair kissed her. She was selling her shoulder a lot all the way.
